Halloween Crinkle Cookies

Delightfully festive cookies with a cracked surface and soft center, perfect for Halloween celebrations.

  • Total Time: 72 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or 1:1 GF blend)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil (or melted coconut oil)
  • 2 large eggs (room temp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (orange, purple, or black)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat the sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add in the gel food coloring to achieve your desired color.
  3. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour (or chill in the freezer for 30 minutes if in a hurry).
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll the dough into 1 tablespoon-sized balls and coat them generously in powdered sugar.
  7. Place the cookies about 2 inches apart on the baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cracked but still soft in the center.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate for two weeks or freeze for up to three months.
