This Jamaican Peppered Steak recipe brings the bold flavors of the Caribbean to your kitchen. Made with tender steak, spicy scotch bonnet peppers, thyme, and allspice, it’s a mouthwatering dish that’s full of flavor and heat. Ingredients

Flank steak, 1 lb (450g)

Scotch bonnet peppers, 2 finely chopped

Garlic, 4 cloves, mincedFresh thyme, 2 sprigsAllspice, 1 tspSoy sauce, 2 tbspBell peppers, 1, slicedOnion, 1, slicedOlive oil, 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak with scotch bonnet peppers, thyme, garlic, soy sauce, and allspice for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat and cook the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.

  3. In the same pan, sauté bell peppers and onions for 2-3 minutes until soft.

  4. Pour the marinade into the pan and let it simmer to create a sauce.

  5. Serve the steak with the sauce on top, alongside rice and peas and fried plantains.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of scotch bonnet peppers.

 

  • You can also grill the steak instead of pan-searing for added smokiness.
